This privacy policy sets out how Retainagroup uses and protects any information you give us when you use this website.
Retainagroup is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, you can be assured it will only be used in accordance with this privacy policy.
This policy has been updated and is effective from 1st September 2020. If at any time there are further changes, this page will be updated accordingly.
This policy only applies to our site. If you leave our site via a link or otherwise, you will be subject to the policy of that website provider. We have no control over that policy or the terms of the website and you should check their policy before continuing to access the site.


The data we collect

Retainagroup obtains and maintains data on vehicles and other assets vulnerable to theft that are protected by our security system. The only personal data we collect consists of owner names and contact details, including email addresses.


IP addresses and Cookies

We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration and to report aggregate information. This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual and we will not collect personal information in this way. We will NOT obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive.


Where we store data

All the data we collect is stored within the European Economic Area (“EEA”). All the information is stored on our in-house secure servers – NOT IN THE CLOUD.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Therefore, although we will do our utmost to protect your data, we cannot guarantee the security of the data transmitted to our site; thus any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received the information, we will use strict protocols in order to reduce the opportunity for any unauthorised access. Our database – the International Security Register – is accredited to and operated according to Standards that govern the secure maintaining and handling of data.


Reasons for making use of the information we hold

To:

  • assist police and other law enforcement agencies to solve crimes relating to vehicles and other assets protected by our marking and registration system
  • confirm or deny information held, in order to protect purchasers from investing in marked and registered items that may have been stolen
  • help ensure that if one of your marked and registered items is stolen and then recovered, we can quickly make contact with you
  • to notify you if we receive a call relating to your vehicle
  • to enable you to obtain a replacement key if we hold details of the code

Your rights

If you do not wish us to contact you about any of our products you can exercise your rights by checking the relevant boxes on the forms you use to provide us with data. You can also exercise the right at any time by contacting us at cust.service@retainagroup.co.uk

Access to information

The Data Protection Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act.
