Retainagroup
Retainagroup Ltd is a leading provider of security marking systems designed to deter theft and aid in the recovery of stolen assets. Since 1982, Retainagroup has led the way in providing vehicle protection solutions. Our mission is simple: To prevent theft, support recovery, and assist law enforcement and insurers every step of the way.
We manufacture and sell innovative and effective technology to mark vehicles, bicycles and assets with proven reduction in theft risk.
The International Security Register (ISR) is a secure database used by police, insurers, and the public to instantly verify and trace marked components and support the recovery of stolen vehicles and other valuable items. Since 1991, the ISR has played a critical role in crime prevention, asset recovery, and successful prosecutions.
Asset marking involves applying a permanent, unique identifier to an item, making it traceable. This acts as a powerful theft deterrent and helps law enforcement recover and return lost or stolen property. Marking also adds credibility to ownership and can support insurance claims.
Retainagroup have a method for marking almost any surface. Therefore, our systems are suitable for many applications, including:
Vehicles (cars, motorcycles, vans, HGVs)
Bicycles
Marine equipment
Agricultural and plant machinery
Tools and construction equipment
Electronics (e.g., laptops, tablets)
Markings are permanent and designed to last the lifetime of the asset. They are tamper-resistant and cannot be removed without visible damage, which helps in both theft deterrence and identification.
If your address or vehicle details change, or if you sell your vehicle, you should update your information promptly with the International Security Register to keep records accurate - you can do this for free. This helps to ensure continued protection and prevents complications if checks are performed in the future. You can update it here https://www.retainagroup.com/registration/vehicle_amendments.html
We work with the automotive industry - OEM, dealerships, vehicle import/export centres, retailers, IT companies, contractors, construction firms, glazing industry, insurers and the police service.
Vehicle windows and/or valuable parts are marked at production plants, import/export centres, or dealerships using a range of methods, including bespoke laser units, stencil & proprietary fluids, electrolysis, and ultra-destruct labels.
Data from marked vehicles is uploaded onto our standalone servers before being transferred into our International Security Register (ISR).

Vehicle Marking
Vehicle windows and/or valuable parts are marked at production plants, import/export centres, or dealerships using a range of methods, including bespoke laser units, stencil & proprietary fluids, electrolysis, and ultra-destruct labels. Vehicle details are then registered on the International Security Register (ISR) for 24/7 traceability and verification.
Law enforcement data indicates that both vehicle and asset marking substantially decrease the chances of theft for cars and valuable belongings alike. Stolen vehicles and items are traceable and far more difficult to sell on. Dealers and OEMs benefit from stronger anti-cloning protection, easier verification of replacement parts, and data reporting that helps insurers and authorities track theft trends and recover vehicles faster. Verification through the ISR quickly allows police to confirm ownership.
We offer a range of methods, including bespoke laser units, stencil & proprietary fluids, electrolysis, and ultra-destruct labels.
If a vehicle has not already been marked at OEM or at the vehicle dealership then the system can be retro fitted either by going to an authorised re-seller, such as Halfords, or contacting us directly.

These permanent marks support batch control, meet safety standards, and help prevent counterfeiting or sub-standard products from being misrepresented as genuine, ensuring full compliance and lifetime traceability.
Our laser and chemical etching systems offer manufacturers and processors a safe, cost-effective way to mark glass and polycarbonate clearly and permanently.
Options include fully mobile, computer-controlled laser units and proprietary marking fluids with pre-cut stencils, providing solutions for all production sizes.

Retainagroup laser marking units offer permanent, precise identification on glass and polycarbonate products. Designed to meet industry marking standards, they record date, time, and sequential numbering, along with identifiers such as glass tempering oven ID. This ensures that every item remains fully traceable and complies with quality and safety regulations.
All our models comply with BS EN/IEC 60825-1:2007 laser safety standards, providing manufacturers, processors, and dealerships with a reliable solution for secure product marking and registration.
Integrate your logo with unique identifiers to enhance brand visibility and security.
Marks are crystal clear - our methods ensure a perfect mark every time.
Establishes Clear Legal & Liability Protection:
It shields manufacturers, fabricators, and installers from unwarranted injury lawsuits and insurance claims by proving the product was fully compliant before it left the shop floor.
Prevents Fraud and Cheap Counterfeiting
Permanent markings raise the barrier to entry, ensuring that non-compliant glass cannot easily pass off as safety glass. This preserves market prices, protects reputable fabricators from unfair undercutting, and keeps bad actors out of the supply chain.
Guarantees Traceability Throughout the Supply Chain
If a batch of glass experiences a manufacturing defect or failure, the permanent bug allows investigators to trace the glass back to its source, batch, and production plant. This targeted traceability prevents wide-scale product recalls across the whole industry when an issue is localized to a single lot.
Streamlines Inspections & Building Code Sign-Offs
Permanent markings eliminate guesswork. They prevent costly teardowns, project delays, or forced glass replacements at the end of a build, maintaining the industry’s reputation for reliability and efficiency with general contractors and developers.
Prevents Catastrophic On-Site Alterations
A visible safety bug warns field glaziers, glaziers on future renovation jobs, and glass cutters NOT to attempt post-fabrication cuts or modifications on that panel. This protects field workers from violent glass breakage and workplace injuries.
Retainagroup's glass marking systems comply with British Standards BS 6262-4 and Building Regulations Requirement K for the permanent marking of safety glass, ensuring products meet industry and regulatory standards.
